The opening ceremonies of the 2nd Philippine Bird Festival were led by
DENR Secretary Angelo Reyes, former DENR Secretary Elisea Gozun, Bukidnon
Congressman Juan Miguel Zubiri, Mirant Foundation Executive Director Roberto
Calingo with Festival Chairperson Alice Villa-Real and WBCP President
Michael Lu.

To start the program, hosts Anna Gonzales and Jomike Tejido
led the Panata sa Kalikasan (Pledge to Nature) with more
than a thousand students from different Metro Manila schools
in attendance. Festival chairperson Alice Villa-Real welcomed
the guests and participants. Short speeches were delivered
by WBCP President Mike Lu, Ms Bebet Gozun, Director Bobby
Calingo and DENR Secretary Angie Reyes. The WBCP handed
over framed prints of endemic kingfisher paintings as tokens
of appreciation to these special guests.

Joining the guests onstage were Protected Area and Wildlife
Bureau Director Mundita Lim and WWF-Philippines executive
Dircetor Lory Tan. Other guests include Blas Tabaranza (Haribon),
Belen King (Makati Garden Club), Donna Reyes and Dra. Angelina
Galang (Miriam PEACE), Regina Paterno (Winner Foundation),
Alaminos Mayor Hernani Braganza and Balanga City Mayor Melanio
Banzon. After the opening ceremonies, guests visited the
exhibits by different environmental organizations.
