Post-birding Trip
PICOP, Bislig, Surigao del Sur
September 27 – 30, 2010
Day 1: Davao to PICOP, Bislig
Leave Davao for Bislig after breakfast. It will be a 4-5 hour
travel by Public Utility Vans to Brgy. Mangagoy in Bislig. Arrive
around noon and have lunch in the hotel. Meet the bird guides
and prepare for the whole afternoon birding in the vicinity
of the city.
Day 2 & 3: PICOP Concession birding
Two full days in and around the concession of PICOP. The area
is good for Mindanao Lowland birds. Target species for the trip
are the Celestial and Short Crested Monarchs, Blue-capped and
Silvery Kingfishers, Black-faced coucal, Red-bellied and Azure-breasted
Pittas and Writhed, Rufous and Mindanao Hornbills. We will also
visit a site to possibly see the Philippine Eagle.
Day 4: Return trip to Davao/Butuan and Manila
Last day of birding before leaving for Davao or Butuan.
